The Christchurch City Council is a proud sponsor of the New Zealand Ocean Swim – Christchurch Crown event. The Christchurch City Council has been a proud sponsor of the Christchurch leg of the New Zealand Ocean Swim Series since 2008 and is excited to be continuing this sponsorship through to 2016. The Christchurch Crown is a very important event on our summer events calendar and we love how it brings individuals, families and communities together to celebrate and promote swimming, water safety and the benefits of being physically active in the outdoors.

Christchurch City Council Recreation and Sport Centres offer a range of fitness equipment, facilities, programmes and classes in your community.
Swimsmart is Christchurch City Council’s Learn to Swim Programme. Individual and group lessons for all ages (including adult lessons) and abilities are available at Graham Condon, Jellie Park and Pioneer. Phone 377 7690 for bookings and general enquiries.
Swimsafe is a Water Education for Schools Programme providing lessons on essential water safety and survival skills for life. In lessons children will learn entry, balance, buoyancy and breathing, as well as practicing using inflatable boats and life jackets. Track Your Swim and Win!
Train in our Recreation and Sport Centres for the Christchurch Crown from 13 December 2015 – 29 January 2016 and enter Track My Swim. At each distance milestone (10km, 25km, 50km) you will go in the draw to win fantastic prizes including a 2XU full body wetsuit at each centre! As a bonus, each person that tracks 10km by New Year’s Day will go in the draw to win a free entry for the Christchurch Crown.
