Can I get a refund or transfer my event entry to another event?

As per our Terms & Conditions, refunds are not available. However, If you cannot take part in the event, your registration may be able to be transferred to another event within the current New Zealand Ocean Swim Series.

If the transfer for this event is arranged more than seven days out from online entries closing (2 days before the event day),  75% of my registration fee can be transferred to another event within the current New Zealand Ocean Swim Series

If the transfer is arranged within 7 days of event online entries closing (2 days before the event day),  50% of the registration fee can be transferred to another event within the current New Zealand Ocean Swim Series.

If you do not contact the organisers more than two days out from the event day (or before online entries for that event close) to arrange a transfer, my registration fee is not refundable nor transferable.

I forgot to purchase a bus ticket with my event registration, can I buy one now?

Yes, you can. You can buy a ticket on our website

You will not need a physical ticket for the bus or ferry. Your name will be on a list and one of our crew will assist you on event day.

Do I have to wear a wetsuit? Can I hire a wetsuit?

You do not have to wear a wetsuit for any swim distance. Wetsuits offer warmth and extra buoyancy.

Hiring a wetsuit is a great way to try before you decided you want to do another event. If you wish to hire a wetsuit we have many convent locations that you can hire a swimming wetsuit from and also ensure you are being fitted for the correct size.

We may have wetsuits available on the day, but they normally sell out, so best you book one in by contacting the specialists in swimming wetsuits, our hire partner – SwimT3. This way you can pick the wetsuit up before the event, try it on and test it out so there are no surprises. For more information and a list of stores you can hire from click here 

 

Why am I in a different start group from last season / my last event?

Starting waves are calculated for each event based on entrant numbers, and the start groups swimmers have given us in the registration process.

We can assure you that you’ve been put in a starting wave with other swimmers who have chosen a similar start group to you.

Start Group 1 & 2 – The fastest start groups

Start Group 3 & 4- Middle of the pack start groups

Start Group 5 & 6- Last start groups, great for family and friends to swim together.

My child is under the minimum age to take part in an event distance - are they able to take part?

No sorry, our minimum ages are:

12 years and above for the 1,600  – 5km distances
10 years and above for 7500m – 1250km distances
8 years and above for 500m distance

‘Banana Boat OceanKids’ event is for 7-10 year olds:
There are 100m & 200m swims. The child can be entered in either distance.

There is no flexibility on these minimum ages this season.
